About this Recipe
You won’t be missing the store bought stuff after your try our air fryer rotisserie chicken recipe. Perfect for meal prepping or an easy dinner meal, it’s super simple to make and pretty cheap too. We usually cook a whole chicken on Monday and then have the leftovers throughout the rest of the week to munch on. Our favorite way to use the leftovers? Chicken salad. So good!
Ingredients
- 4-6 lb whole chicken (depending on how big your air fryer is)
- Seasoning Blend:
- Paprika
- Garlic Powder
- Onion Powder
- Dill Weed
- Rosemary
- Salt
- Pepper
- Cajun Seasoning (optional)
- 4 tbsp butter, cubed
Our Tips:
- Perfect for meal prepping chicken for the rest of your week. We love to use our leftover chicken for sandwiches, chicken salad, or even just as a midday snack.
- The spices/herbs I have listed are my usual go-to chicken blend, but feel free to add whatever seasonings you like. Lemon Pepper, Herbs de Provence, BBQ rub. The options are endless. In this one I added Cajun seasoning just for fun.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Preheat your air fryer for 10 minutes at 400 degrees.
In a small bowl, mix together all your spices.
Step 2
Pat your chicken dry with a paper towel.
Lift the skin of the chicken and slide in your cubed butter between the skin and the meat of the chicken.
Make sure to get all sides: front, back, wings, legs. This is how you will get the most delicious and crispy chicken skin.
(Note: TBH I just try to fit in the cubed butter wherever I can under the skin. There isn’t really a solid method, but the more the better!)
Step 3
Add a litle bit of oil onto your chicken and sprinkle on our seasoning mixture.
Make sure you get every nook and cranny on your chicken, and to gently PAT on the seasoning–don’t rub.
(Note: Sometimes I just use a cooking oil spray instead of the real stuff. It is what it is.)
Step 4
Once you air fryer has preheated. Spray the inside with cooking spray.
Lay your chicken into your air fryer–breast side down.
You may have to tuck in the wings and legs for it to fit. It’s okay if it’s a tight squeeze.
Step 5
Cook your chicken for 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
Flip after time is done.
Cook for an additional 30 minutes or until internal temp reaches 165.
(Note: For the last 5 minutes or so I like to bump up the temperature to make sure the skin gets extra crispy!)
Step 6
Let rest for 5 minutes.
Enjoy!
